Dr. Marc Faber was born in Zurich (Switzerland). He went to school in Geneva and Zurich, and completed his schooling with the baccalaureate. He studied economics at Zurich University, graduating at the age of 24 with the distinction “magna cum laude”.

Between 1970 and 1978 Dr. Marc Faber worked for While Weld & Company Limited in New York, Zurich and Hong Kong.

He has lived in Hong Kong since 1973. From 1978 to February 1990 he was Managing Director of Drexel Burnham Lambert (HK) Ltd. In June 1990 he founded his own company, MARC FABER LIMITED, which is active in the fields of investment consultancy and investment fund management. 

Dr. Faber publishes a widely-read monthly newsletter “The Gloom Boom & Doom Report”, which focuses on unusual investment opportunities. In addition, he is the author of several books, including “TOMORROW’S GOLD – Asia’s Age of Discovery”, which was published to great acclaim in 2002. “TOMORROW’S GOLD” was on Amazon’s bestseller list for several weeks, and has been translated into Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai and German. Dr. Faber is a spokesman for several leading financial services companies around the world.

In 1998 Nury Vittachi published the book “RIDING THE MILLENNIAL STORM” about Dr. Marc Faber. 

Dr. Marc Faber is a regular guest speaker at selected investment seminars, and is known for his unconventional investment proposals. In addition, he is a consultant for various investment funds, and holds seats on the supervisory boards of several companies. Amongst other things, he acts as “Senior Advisor” of Loewengroup (Holding) Ltd., Zurich.
